Become an Outreach Support Volunteer

Date: Tuesday 6 October 2026, 12.00pm – 3.00pm

Location: Online

If you have lived experience of spinal cord injury and want to support people in the early stages following injury, why not become an Outreach Support Volunteer?

Back Up supports newly injured people in spinal injury centres and other hospital settings across the UK. Giving newly injured people the opportunity to ask questions and speak to someone who understands adjusting to life after injury, you will help to raise awareness of Back Up’s support services and signpost to vital information.

What does it involve?
– Using lived experience to support people in the early stages of their rehab journey

– Using lived experience to represent Back Up at patient education sessions for newly injured people

– Being a visual presence to raise awareness of Back Up’s support services

What we offer:

  • An initial online training session and annual development event
  • Support, guidance and feedback from Outreach & Engagement Team
  • Agreed expenses covered by Back Up
