Get your school involved

There are all sorts of ways you can get your school involved in raising money for Back Up.

Whether you decide to hold a dress down day, a cake sale, or organise a disco, the funds you raise will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by spinal cord injury – just £35 could pay for one person to attend an invaluable wheelchair skills session.

What are other schools doing?

Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron (Aberaeron Comprehensive School)

Bethany is one of our highly valued Youth Advisory Group members who, with the help of her school, organised a range of fundraising events. The Aberaeron Comprehensive School held a Swimathon and a Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, raising an amazing amount of money whilst showing incredible support to both Bethany and Back Up.

Wix School Music Concert

Wix School teamed up with Back Up to raise an incredible £1,300 through hosting a music concert. Jane Sowerby, Back Up Ambassador and Paralympic skier, was there to demonstrate her sit-ski and wheelchair skills to the children and parents. A fantastic amount was raised, whilst also increasing awareness of spinal cord injury and life with a disability.

“I was inspired to create my own event was because I wanted to raise money for Back Up doing something that I love doing. I have done a lot of swimming competitions in the past, so I thought it would be nice to do a sponsored swim and get my school involved!”
