We know that often the best people to support children and young people after a spinal cord injury are other young people themselves. That’s why young people with spinal cord injury are involved in designing and delivering services for under 18's at Back Up.
We are very lucky to have an incredible group of young leaders, made up of youth advisors, young wheelchair skills trainers, young group leaders and young mentors. We are currently looking for more youth advisors. Do you want to be involved in decisions about Back Up's under 18 services? Then come along to the training weekend from Friday (evening arrival) 1st July - Sunday 3rd July in Coventry. All expenses for the training weekend and volunteering are covered.
If you want to find out more please email Beth or call her on 020 8875 1805. Download the
young leaders application form if you are interested in applying and read about the youth advisor role:
"The best bit of the training has been seeing everyone grow in confidence and make friends. As well as seeing people's ideas become aims for Back Up and feeling that we have made a change and contribution."
Young buddies update
We are not recruiting any young buddies in 2016 due to piloting a new 13-17 city skills course that will offer spaces to siblings or friends of the participants. We hope to run the multi-activity course in 2017 when buddy spaces will be available again.
