How to fundraise the Mark Howden way.
Whether it’s running 14 chilly, hilly miles, pulling his mate, Nick in a wheelchair up mountains, or even dressing up as Sacha Baron Cohen ‘s ‘Bruno’ (No, we’re not sure why either?!) Mark Howden has shown that he’s not only ‘game for a laugh’ but that he’s also really committed to fundraising for Back Up.
As a member of Nomura’s Equity Sales Team, Mark first got involved with Back Up when he was invited to our Ball by Back Up trustee, Nick Barr-Hamilton - a wheelchair user himself - back in 2002. Since then, Mark has gone on to become his department’s ‘Charity Champion’ and has attended the Back Up Ball every year for the last TEN years!
Since he started his fundraising efforts, Mark has raised more than £30,000 for the charity, which has earned him the accolade of being one of Just Giving’s top fundraisers. He’s now planning to raise more money for Back Up by becoming a wheelchair user for a week - experiencing first-hand what it’s like and raising awareness among his somewhat bewildered colleagues!
If you too fancy supporting Back Up, then don’t worry – you don’t necessarily have to dress up as a camp Austrian or dance stupidly on a table at the Back Up Ball - Take a look at our Back Up Team website to see all the opportunities out there for fundraising fun.
