‘Join the Dots’ is Back Up’s vital community based wheelchair skills training. This year, we have partnered with leading distributor of high quality wheelchairs Gerald Simonds and Irwin Mitchell, one of the UK’s most respected law firms, to bring ‘Join the Dots’ to a town near you.
Through ‘Join the Dots’, individuals learn to use wheelchair skills to join the dots from point A to B in local towns and cities near spinal units. With public transport not being as accessible as it should, navigating a city in a chair can be hard – but not impossible. With the right support and training, chair users can reclaim their independence and build up their confidence safely within their community.
As well as sponsoring ‘Join the Dots’, Gerald Simonds will be providing Back Up service users with a discount for their wheelchairs.
Irwin Mitchell will not only sponsor the course, but will also provide volunteer ‘buddies’ to assist, encourage, listen to and support on the day.
“’Join the Dots’ is one of Back Up’s most exciting new services and we are looking forward to working with Gerald Simonds and Irwin Mitchell in the next year,” said Pete Donnelly, Back Up’s Outreach and Support Manager.
