Sainsbury`s Online choose Back Up as their charity of the year

Sainsbury`s Online staff ditch their razors for Back Up

Back Up is delighted to have been chosen by Sainsbury’s Online to be their charity of the year. Following a staff vote, they selected Back Up out of 10 shortlisted charities and plan to raise money through internal fundraising and by supporting some of Back Up`s challenge events in 2012.

They kicked things off with a sponsored moustache growing event last month. So far the 29 members of the team who took part have raised over £3000 which is a great start to their year of fundraising.

At the end of the month, a panel made up of some of the team`s female colleagues, voted on each of the moustaches using different categories which included ‘Best Comedy Tache’ and ‘70s Pornstar’. There were prizes for the overall winner and booby prizes for a few of the cheats. Back Up`s Outreach & Support manager, Sean McCallion, joined them for the prize giving and gave a quick update on Back Up’s work over the past month and a look at what’s coming up. Everyone was eager to get home and have a shave after a quick drink at the local pub.

Programme Manager Miles Stuart said, “It’s been a fantastic team building event and has really helped to bring together the disparate teams which make up this project”.

We’re looking forward to working with the Sainsbury’s Online team over the coming year. A huge thanks for the fantastic effort so far!
