Summer Scuba course

Scuba

9 -16 May, Egypt, 2010

The Scuba course is a great opportunity for those with spinal cord injury to gain a PADI diving qualification in fantastic surroundings and learn to dive independently. The course is run at the Camel Dive Club, a dive school and hotel based in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. Established over 15 years ago, Camel is a very experienced provider for disabled diver training and attracts disabled groups form all over the world who wants to participate in the sport. The whole resort and town in general has great facilities.

The course is run over seven days with the first couple spent in the pool completing your theory and practical sessions, before heading in to the calm, clear waters. The group is comprised of six people with spinal injury and six buddies.

Buddies will dive with spinally injured divers, learning a new skill and generally helping where needed. Buddies will need to provide both physical assistance but more importantly invaluable moral support when everyone is learning together. Carers or Nurses will be provided if needed. Participants must have permission to dive from the diving doctor.

“If anybody has considered scuba diving, all I can say is go for it. I promise you won’t be disappointed, but a word of warning, diving can lead to high levels of excitement and its highly addictive!

"Would I go again? I’ve already booked!”
