The Back-Up Trust Youth Programme

Tommy, aged 14, down in Exmoor

Back-Up isn’t just for adults!

We also run an extensive programme of services and courses for teenagers and children with spinal cord injury. Back-Up offers a range of ways for you to meet, chat or just share your experiences with other people that can relate to your experiences such as our Youth e-forum.

We are well aware that if you are under the age of 18, you may have been the youngest person in your spinal centre by some way.  You might not even know anyone else your age with spinal cord injury.  We can change this!

"I had a better time than I imagined. Highlights of the course were kayaking and making new mates. I would definitely do it all again."Mark, 17, injured 2003

For further information regarding the youth programme, please contact . A good way to find out more is to register with us on-line or make a call.

"I think I am more independent as a result of going on the course and that will help me, possibly as far ahead as leaving home! I used to worry about how I would manage that, but I feel more secure in my own abilities now. I feel more confident and I am better able to assertively explain my needs and limitations." Clare, 15, injured 1990

And ... a bonus!

For anyone aged 16+, spinally injured or not you can use either a multi activity or a ski week as part of your residential component of your Duke of Edinburgh Award.

To stay in touch we also have an e-forum for you.  Why not register today?
