On 12th October 2007 six staff from the London offices of The Royal Bank of Scotland became the first people to take on The Back-Up Trust Office Wheelchair Challenge. Starting with a wheelchair skills session in the morning, RBS staff were then put into teams and sent on mission impossible around central London to complete a number of challenges.
The aim for the day was to set a team building task with true Back-Up style – creating disability awareness and challenging perceptions along the way.
Taking in the sites from Tower Bridge, City Hall, Waterloo, Lloyds of London and finally ending their quest in Vertigo 42, the bar on the 42nd floor of the tallest building in London, all the teams completed their challenge with one member of staff in a wheelchair at all times. The experience was unparalleled for first hand disability awareness, great for strengthening team building skills and a unique day out of the office to boot!
