Mentoring team visits Germany

Back Up was invited to the Manfred Sauer Foundation last weekend, along with the Dwarslaesie Organisatie Nederland (Netherland Spinal injury Organisation) to talk about peer mentoring. Volunteers from the German Wheelchair Sports Association and German Spinal Injuries Association met to discuss the development of their new peer mentoring service, and it was a great opportunity to share expertise and ideas in inspirational surroundings.

Kevin Schultes, a trustees of the foundation, said “I am sure it will be of great value for the further development of a peer-counselling concept for the German Spinal Injuries Association.”

Feedback from the workshop was that Back Up’s work is a great inspiration to the German volunteers, and we’re excited to see how their peer support programme develops.

Thanks to Big Lottery Fund and specialist spinal cord injury solicitors Serious Law for their support of our mentoring service.
