Loyd Odey - Fundraiser of the Year 2014

Loyd Odey - Fundraiser of the Year 2014

We were very pleased to present Loyd Odey with 2014 Fundraiser of the Year award at this years’ HMS Back Up Ball

Loyd got involved with Back Up when his friend and colleague suffered a spinal cord injury.

Loyd decided to take on an amazing THREE challenges over the summer – cycling 200 miles in the mighty London Revolution in May, climbing Mount Snowdon at our annual Push event in July, and then competing in the full Olympic distance London Triathlon in August!

Plans went slightly awry when his original push team had to pull out of the Snowdon Push, but he joined one of the other teams who were short on numbers, so he could keep on supporting and raising money for Back Up.

These challenges took an incredible amount of training to prepare for, and he described his year as a year of running, swimming, cycling, bikram yoga, weight loss and sore limbs!  Loyd cited the push as the “hardest challenge of the three by far” so definitely one to conquer in 2015 for those adrenaline junkies out there!

Coincidentally, and very happily, he also met the love of his life at the Snowdon Push, so Back Up can add another service to its name – The Back Up Dating Agency!

We cannot run our vital services without the support of our fabulous fundraisers!  If you have been inspired by Loyd’s efforts and would like to help Back Up raise essential funds please visit the dedicated webpage and find out how you can get involved
