Julian Clary opens Christmas Market in aid of Back Up

TV star and novelist Julian Clary will open this year's Curtain Up Christmas Market in aid of Back Up.

Curtain Up Events was started in 2010, when a group of actors held a Christmas Market at St Mary Abbots Centre. Each year, the group nominates a different charity to raise funds for during the event.

Now celebrating its 6th year, the Christmas Market will have over 40 stalls offering collectables, art, bric-a-brac, books, jewellery, crafts, handbags, vintage clothing, cakes and much more.

The event will be opened by Julian Clary and refreshments will be provided by MasterChef semi-finalist Julia Gray. Additionally, a raffle will be drawn by a surprise celebrity.

Throughout the day, Back Up will also be running a wheelchair obstacle challenge. "We're delighted to be this year's charity," Louise Wright, Back Up's CEO, said. "The market is a great opportunity to raise awareness of spinal cord injury and raise funds to help more people who are paralysed every year."
