Becky Hill voted UK’s best charity chair, 2014

Imagine the tension; moody lighting, drum rolls, not a sound whilst the envelope is opened… Becky was nominated as Best Charity Chair at the Third Sector Awards held on 18th Sept 2014 by the staff team at Back Up for her unstinting support over the past 10 years, as both trustee and chair (twice!).  During her tenure she has supported the organisations growth and development, increasing our reach of people affected by spinal cord injury and growing our income.  Becky has increased diversity at the board and increased best practice through regular appraisals and training.

Louise Wright, CEO says‘Becky is an enabling and ambitious Chair, totally committed to Back Up’s values and ethos.  She has wide ranging skills meaning she can be Back Up’s spokes person to performing an appraisal or reviewing the budgets.  Her time and energy are much appreciated by staff and her fellow trustees alike.’

And so, up against stiff completion from organisations such as Clic Sargent and Battersea Dog and Cats home, everyone has their name read out, but it’s Becky who wins!  Her team are not surprised, but delighted that her hard work is recognised.  Thank you Becky for being a star!
