We are proud to announce that Back Up has won a Guardian Charity Award 2014.
The Guardian Charity Awards, in association with Zurich Insurance, aim to showcase excellence among small and medium-sized charities. The five winners were announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 2 December which took place at the Guardian’s head office in London.

Accepting the award on behalf of Back Up, trustee, Stephen Lightbown, said: It is wonderful news to win this award. At Back Up we understand that a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but believe that it should not prevent anyone from getting the most out of life. I take great reassurance from knowing that should someone suffer a spinal cord injury tomorrow, Back Up will be there to support them and help get them back on the road to independence.”

Stef Cormack, Head of Services, says: “We hope the award will help Back Up to help 75% of newly injured people and their families and friends, focussing on those with the greatest needs.”

Thanks to our volunteers and everyone who supports Back Up– we couldn’t have won this Award without you!

A short film about Back Up was shown at the awards ceremony which can be viewed here.
