Back Up was invited to meet with staff and patients from the spinal hospital in Ireland over two days last week.
We met with lots of team members from Occupational Therapy, Paediatrics, Physio, Clinical Psychology and nurses and consultants. We were also lucky enough to listen to a presentation by Spinal Injuries Ireland who work really closely in the hospital and run a fantastic outreach service. Over the two days we learnt a lot about how services are run, talked about how Back Up supports people affected by spinal cord injury, and was able to do a wheelchair skills session for 10 in-patients. It was a busy two days.
Watch this space to find out how Back Up works with the National Rehabilitation Hospital in the future. If you have a spinal cord injury (or are related to someone who does) and live in Ireland we would love to hear about your experiences and what you would like to see Back Up doing in Ireland.
