This 3 day course in November 2012 offers a chance to perfect your CV, gives advice on job hunting, including how to declare a disability, and will give you a chance to practice interview techniques in a supportive and encouraging environment. This course aims to give you the confidence you need to achieve your goals in getting back to work.
The course is run by Back Up in partnership with Helen Cooke, Director and founder of
My+ Consulting. Helen is a HR professional, disability consultant, trainer and speaker. Helen’s approach largely comes from her ability to understand the issues from both sides of the fence: as an employee with a disability, and as an employer. Helen is spinal cord injured herself. She has extensive experience of internal and external recruitment as well as establishing graduate management programmes. Helen is also a Back Up mentor.Helen describes the Back Up to Work course as ‘one of the most worthwhile things I’ve done’.
Each year, the Back Up to Work course is kindly hosted by a partner company. Staff often get involved in aspects of the course such as helping with practice interviews – importantly, though, they too are there to learn.
This course is not about finding a job for you but about equipping you with the knowledge and confidence you need to work towards your employment goals.
